Spreadsheets are good at tracking funders, amounts, and dates, and if that’s all you need, keep yours. The trouble is where everything else lives. The agreement is a PDF in the shared drive. The reporting requirements are in a portal you log into twice a year. The funder’s priorities, why the ask went from $40k to $25k, what you promised in the narrative — that’s in an email thread from March, or it isn’t written down at all.

So the numbers survive and the reasoning doesn’t. Next cycle you rebuild the context from memory, and every time someone asks what a grant is for or what you asked Foundation X for in FY24, the answer has to come from you. Grantary was purpose-built to be exceptionally good at one thing: tracking your grants. Beyond that, I recommend other purpose-built tools to help you prospect and write grants, affordably.

For finding funders, Candid and 990 data are made for exactly that. For writing, any major AI platform — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini — will draft better than anything I could build in, and you’re likely already paying for one. The all-in-one platforms do all of it — track, prospect, and write. But being good at one thing is far more achievable than being good at everything. In my experience, a few purpose-built tools beat one bundled platform: each does its own job better and it costs less too. As of August 2026, Grantary is $600 a year, Candid is $1,199 a year, and Claude Team for nonprofits is $192 a year for two seats (minimum) — three specialized tools, each best at its job, for around $1,600 less a year than Instrumentl’s entry-level plan.

Payment is accepted via card, billed either $600 once a year or $60 a month, and you’ll get an itemized invoice and receipt for your records every time. The annual plan gives two months free and it’s one approval instead of twelve. You don’t need a card at all to start the trial, so you can have the system set up and working before anyone has to sign off on a purchase. All payments are handled through Stripe, a secure and globally recognized payment platform.

None, and here’s the reasoning. Grantary is new and it’s one person, so you’re taking a bet on it that a customer in 2028 won’t be. Founding price is what you get for that: $600 a year or $60 per month, held for as long as you stay a customer, even after the price goes to $750 / $75 for everyone who joins after February 28, 2027. It’s not an introductory rate that quietly expires — the founding price will be yours in perpetuity.

Fair question, and here’s the honest answer: I’m actively using this platform to assist nonprofits with their grant efforts, and I’m committed to making it the best it can be. You can expect monthly updates, which I publish on the What’s New page. Also, your grant history is exportable at any time, including after you cancel.

Your data is handled only by the vendors that make Grantary work: Supabase (database, hosting and scheduling), Vercel (application hosting), Resend (email delivery) and Stripe (billing). Supabase holds SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001; Vercel holds SOC 2, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS. Both publish their audits, so your IT team can verify directly on their respective sites.
